Quarterly Newsletter
Welcome
Welcome to the Website and Newsletter section of the Saskatchewan Association of Automotive Repairers (SAAR). SAAR has evolved over the last few decades as a timely and recognized approach in assisting the auto repair industry deal with the numerous challenges it now faces. Some of these include: the new vehicle technology, the changing consumer demands, government legislation, environment, computerization, and the consumer driven and investor conscious attitude towards return on investment (both auto owners and repairers) and personnel planning and management.
The shortage of skilled technicians in both auto body and auto mechanical, combined with the intense competition, heightens our awareness for excellence and quality service in this industry.
I sincerely believe that SAAR is the vehicle for this industry in this province to work closer together for everyone's concerns in overcoming these challenges - locally, provincially, and nationally. Nationally, SAAR is a member of NATA - National Automotive Trades Association
There is no doubt that because of SAAR's unique relationship with C6 Safety Association and SGI Canada, we are the voice of the collision repair industry in Saskatchewan.
Therefore, we sincerely welcome all new members, their input, their wisdom, their experience, and their dedication. Irregardless of shop size or volume, rural or urban, we all have one vote. Once again - welcome!
SAAR's mandate and mission is to make the automotive repair trade in Saskatchewan as healthy, safe, enjoyable, knowledgeable, customer oriented and profitable as possible.

A Word on Membership
For those businesses not yet members, I trust that you will sincerely evaluate your reasons and motives for belonging to and becoming a valuable part of the solution.
There are 13 different claims centre areas in Saskatchewan. This in turn means hundreds of opinions on any given subject. These are the people our directors represent. This partially explains the need to coordinate and negotiate repair procedures, rates and times between SAAR and SGI. As the industry continues to change, so must we.
As a previous shop owner, I know I had to take a long hard look at the whole picture, and realized that each of us has to assume responsibility for the industry in which we make our living in our communities.
Purchasing a membership, if you have not already done so, is the first step.
Secondly, if possible and as time permits, we encourage you to get involved and offer to help make this industry more professional, by volunteering your time, talents and experience to assist on the various SAAR committees. Each area of the Province is invited to participate.
"Many hands make work light"
Not only are members the life force of the industry, but so is their participation in it.
